India-Mauritius Ties Strengthened: Jaishankar's Visit Highlights Bilateral Progress

India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reaffirmed India's strong support for Mauritius during his recent visit, underscoring its pivotal role in the Indian Ocean region's future. This visit, among his initial engagements since re-appointment, aimed at bolstering bilateral relations.

During the two-day trip, Jaishankar engaged in extensive discussions with Mauritian leadership, emphasizing the deep and diverse partnership between the two countries. He reiterated India's steadfast commitment to enhancing collaboration with Mauritius, seen as a beacon of development cooperation.

Key topics included defense cooperation, trade relations, and fostering people-to-people connections. The visit also marked the inauguration of 12 community development projects funded by India and the signing of MoUs across various sectors, further solidifying the enduring bond between India and Mauritius.

During his visit, Jaishankar met with the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Jugnauth, and held bilateral discussions with other senior ministers. He also engaged with prominent Mauritian leaders. This visit allowed both countries to review various aspects of their bilateral relationship comprehensively.
