Airlines supplying 4300 tons of essential goods in India and abroad

New Delhi: In view of the Corona crisis and lockdown when passenger flights are not running in the country, Indian airlines are cooperating in this war. After the lockdown, Indian Airlines has transported 4300 tonnes of cargo traveling 7 lakh km of the country and abroad through 626 flights. These include medicines and other essential items.

Companies that operate cargo flights include Air India, SpiceJet, Indigo, GoAir, Air Asia and Blue Dart Airline. Masks, gloves and other essential items were transported through these flights. These included free medicines sent by the government. Drugs were supplied to such remote areas of the country through 214 cargo flights. Air India and its subsidiary Alliance Air operated 128 such flights and traveled 2 lakh km under the Lifeline flight scheme.

Private Airlines SpiceJet operated 286 flights covering 4 lakh km, including 87 international flights. Similarly, Indigo operated 25 cargo flights covering about 22 thousand km and delivered 21.77 tonnes of cargo. The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) operated 214 such special flights under Lifeline flight. Blue Dart operated 94 domestic cargo flights and traveled 92,075 km and delivered 1,479 tonnes of cargo.
