In a recent operation in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army confirmed the elimination of three terrorists in Kulgam's Redwani Payeen area. The operation, which spanned approximately 40 hours, concluded on Thursday.
Beginning on the night of May 6, the joint operation saw the collaborative efforts of security forces in the region. The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army disclosed this update via a statement, emphasizing the recovery of war-like equipment alongside the elimination of the terrorists.
The Army remains steadfast in its commitment to preserving peace and stability in Kashmir, as stated by the Chinar Corps.
Earlier in the week, two terrorists, including a wanted member of Lashkar-e-Toiba identified as Basit Dar, were also neutralized in the same vicinity. The culmination of the operation occurred with the elimination of the third terrorist on Wednesday.
The backdrop of this operation includes a search initiated by security forces post the attack on an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in the Poonch sector on May 4. However, it's yet to be established if the terrorists engaged in the recent encounter were linked to the Poonch assault.
In response to heightened security concerns, extensive deployments of security personnel have been witnessed across the Union Territory. The search operation spanned from Surankote to Jarran Wali Gali and Rajouri, bolstered by the establishment of checkpoints on main roads.
The attack on the IAF convoy resulted in the tragic loss of IAF officer Vikky Pahade, with four others sustaining injuries. Evacuated for treatment to Udhampur via IAF choppers, Pahade was laid to rest on Monday in his hometown of Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, with full military honors.
