Leh: India has deployed its K-9 vajra guns in eastern Ladakh amid ongoing tensions with China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The army's Udhampur (Jammu and Kashmir) northern command shared the photos with the co-army chief on Friday. State that the co-army chief, Lt Gen C P Mohanty, is in Ladakh for three days these days.

He is also visiting the headquarters of the Fire and Fury (14th) Corps in Leh and reviewing the operational preparedness of soldiers deployed at LAC adjoining China. Meanwhile, the co-army chief was also briefed about the deployment of K-9 guns at a forward location in LAC. This is the first time that K-9 guns have been deployed at LAC.  In 2017, India signed a 100 K-9 gun deal with South Korea. Some of these guns were purchased directly from South Korea, and the rest were made and handed over to the Army by L&T Company in Hazira, Gujarat, with Korean assistance.

In February this year, L&T handed over the 100th cannon to the Indian Army Chief, General MM Narwane. The important thing is that these are self-propelled artillery guns, that is, these guns do not need to be pulled by a truck or any other way, but they are fitted with tank-like wheels and can run to the deserts and mountains themselves.
