Srinagar: A 100 feet high tricolor was hoisted at Gulmarg today to commemorate the 75th year of Independence. The event was presided over by Lt Gen Y K Joshi, Army Commander, Northern Command. He also felicitated the families of all the jawans who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.

At the same time, Lt Gen Joshi also felicitated those who made a significant contribution to the nation's building through their efforts. The monument, which is in the midst of the beautiful and healthy surroundings of Gulmarg, adds four moons to the tourist attraction of the place. Tourists visiting the memorial do not forget to take pictures of the huge national flag as well as take selfies.

At the same time, the Army Commander said that the flag is a tribute to countless Kashmiris who sacrificed their lives while protecting the unity and integrity of the nation. Let me tell you that Gulmarg is one of the places along the Line of Control where Pakistani troops infiltrated in 1965 and due to the vigilance of shepherd Mohammad Din, the Indian Army was helped to succeed Pakistan's nefarious designs.
