Outbreak in Karnataka due to flood, army engaged in relief work, thousands of people rescued

Bengaluru: The flood situation has become very severe in four districts of Karnataka. The army, SDRF, and NDRF are engaged in rescue operations. Thousands of people stranded in the floods have been evacuated. Several villages in Kalburgi, Vijayapura, Yadgir, and Raichur districts have been completely or partially submerged in floodwaters due to heavy rains that occurred last week.

Karnataka CM Yeddyurappa said that according to the Karnataka Disaster Management Authority, rescue teams have so far rescued 20,269 people from flood-affected areas. Due to heavy rains and release of water from dams in Maharashtra, 111 villages in four districts of Karnataka have been affected by the floods. Floods have also damaged crops. Hyderabad has received heavy rains again. The rain, which started at 6 pm on Saturday evening, continued till Sunday morning.

The situation in Hyderabad has changed a week earlier on 13 October. In many areas, roads were flooded. Traffic is jammed. Cars were seen flowing in water. Trains have stopped on the highway. The water of the lake in Balanagar area of the city has come on the roads. Water was stored in the surrounding areas. More than 15 cm of rain was recorded in the Singapore township of Medchal Malkajgiri and Bundelaguda near Uppal.
