The Indian Army's Netex K2K 2023-24 initiative aims to honor the Kargil Vijay Silver Jubilee Year by paying tribute to the martyrs in a unique three-phase campaign involving a team of 50 individuals.
Marked annually on July 26th, Kargil Vijay Diwas stands as a nationwide celebration commemorating the triumph of the Indian armed forces during the Kargil War against Pakistan. This day holds significance in honoring the valor and sacrifices made by soldiers in the 1999 war, also known as Operation Vijay.
To mark the silver jubilee year of the Kargil conflict, the Indian Army has embarked on a monumental 9,500-kilometer aerial journey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. Dubbed as Netex K2K 2023-24, the endeavor involves four microlight aircraft that will ceremoniously raise the national tricolor on Kargil and Ram Setu over a span of 77 days. Demonstrating courage and solidarity, the Netex team recently reached Udaipur as part of their mission, which commenced from Mhow in Madhya Pradesh, making pitstops at Banswara before arriving in Udaipur.
Colonel Abhayjit Mehlawat, a participant from Sikar, Rajasthan, expressed that the Military Micro Light Campaign 2023-24, Netex, embodies an ambitious undertaking. This initiative sees a group of intrepid microlight pilots traversing 9,500 kilometers via four microlights and powered hang gliders, spanning from Kashmir in the North to Kanyakumari in the South. As part of the Kargil Silver Jubilee Mahotsav in 2024, the Indian Army aims to showcase the nation's prowess by hoisting the tricolor atop Kargil peak, a symbolic victory site in the North, and at the spiritual center of Ram Setu in the South. Colonel Mehlawat noted that prior to this momentous act, homage will be paid in remembrance of the Bombay Sappers Regiments War Memorial in Pune, built in 1923 to honor the martyrs of the First World War, marking its centenary.
