New Delhi: Harbhajan Singh, a former Indian off-spinner, expressed his joy at Jasprit Bumrah's impending return to the Indian cricket team.

Bumrah will captain the Indian team for the T20I series against Ireland, which will start on August 18, so he hoped that he stays healthy going forward.

Bumrah will serve as the team's captain; the 15-man roster has been revealed for the tour. As he is receiving treatment at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

Bumrah has been sidelined for roughly ten months. Bumrah was sidelined since September 2022 due to a crippling stress fracture in his back.

“Jasprit Bumrah has made a comeback. He was injured for a long time and his return was awaited. He has come back and has been made the captain straightaway. Congratulations to Jassi for becoming the captain and foremost for getting fit. I hope and keep my fingers crossed that Jassi doesn’t get injured again," said Harbhajan in a video shared on his YouTube channel.

Harbhajan brought up Bumrah, who, despite being unconventional, is a crucial part of the Indian bowling unit. Even so, he compared Bumrah's status to that of Virat Kohli.

The pacer's economy rate in 60 T20Is was 6.62 runs per over while picking up 70 wickets. The speedster will return to the Indian T20 lineup after being sidelined since September 2022 as a result of back surgery.

“He has been missed a lot, whether you see the WTC final or the cricket that was played before that. I used to say earlier and am saying it today as well that if we talk about batting, we talk about Virat Kohli, and if there is a Virat Kohli of bowling, it is Jasprit Bumrah. There is no bigger name than him," Bhajji added.
The Indian fans will be hoping that Bumrah returns to his best as soon as possible because the side has not been the same without him.

Bumrah is set to captain the Indian team for the three T20 matches against Ireland. He needs to get back into shape before the ODI World Cup in 2023, as will the Indian team and supporters.
