Unilever's Indian business sales have been greatly affected by the lockdown imposed to control the COVID-19 epidemic in India. Now its business has returned to the path of development again. The British-Dutch company Unilever gave this information. The return of growth in Indian business with Brazil and the continuous improvement in the Chinese market has helped the company grow the business of emerging markets.
The company's business in the region achieved 5.3% growth in the quarter ended in September 2020. After releasing the results, the company said in a statement, "India's business grew by a low single-digit growth, which is due to an increase in food and refreshments and sanitation business. Along with this, there has been a double-digit growth in China due to the continuous growth of business led by beauty and personal care categories and the outdoor foodservice business has started operating at full capacity.
Unilever said that after the stringent lockdown scheduled at the beginning of the year, India's economic activity has picked up, although Corona cases are still growing. Overall, Unilever reported a 12.9 billion euros business in the July-September quarter, down 2.4% from the same period in 2019. Commenting on the results, Unilever CEO Alan Jop said, 'We have made a strong performance this quarter. The growth in volume leads, the consumer segment, reflects the livelihood of our portfolio and our mobility in response to the changing nature of geographies and channels.'
