New Delhi: India, which is always ready to help the neighbouring countries, has once again dispatched a 'rescue team' to Sri Lanka. After the oil-laden, Sri Lankan ship caught fire, the Navy there sought assistance from the Indian Coast Guard. 'MT New Diamond' is in 37 nautical miles east of the Sri Lankan coast. The Indian Coast Guard said that three ships and the Dornier aircraft were immediately dispatched. It is being told that the ship has about 2 lakh metric tonnes of crude oil.

A Dornier aircraft with immediate gallantry, colour and sea watchman is deployed for coordinated search and rescue operations in sea and air. Coast Card tweeted saying, "Sri Lanka Navy has sought assistance from India Coast Card after the fire and explosion in the oil tanker. ICG ships and aircraft are deployed immediately to assist". The tweet also tagged the Defense Minister and the Foreign Ministry spokesman.

Another tweet states that "The Indian Coast Card has employed the Shaurya, Sarang, sea watchers and Dornier aircraft to extinguish the oil tanker."
