The Indian team's arrival in Pakistan for the World Kabaddi Championship has caused controversy as the Sports Minister and the National Federation have claimed that they have not approved any athletes to participate in the neighbouring country. The team from India reached Lahore on Saturday via the Wagah border to participate in the championship, which is being organized in Pakistan for the first time.

Photo and footage of Indians arriving in Lahore on social media is coming out. The tournament will begin from Monday at Punjab Football Stadium in Lahore. Some matches will be played in Faisalabad and Gujarat. A source in the Sports Ministry has said that the government has not allowed any athlete to visit Pakistan for the tournament. The Sports Ministry source said, "The Sports Ministry and the Ministry of External Affairs have not given permission to any team which is mandatory to represent the country in any international competition."

Indian Amateur Kabaddi Federation (AKFI) Administrator Judge (Retd) SP Garg also said that the national body has not approved any team. He said, 'We have no information about any Kabaddi team going to Pakistan. No permission was given by AKFI to any team to go to Pakistan and play kabaddi matches there. The source said, 'We came to know only when information about this was sought. AKFI does not support such activity. Legal action should be taken against those who do so. Let us know that the last six stages of the World Kabaddi Championship were held in India till 2010 and 2019. India had won all six championships in which it defeated Pakistan in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Pakistani organizers have said that teams from Australia, England, Germany, Iran, Azerbaijan, Sierra Leone, Kenya and Canada are also participating in this competition. The winning team will get one crore, while the runner-up team will get Rs 75 lakh.
