New Delhi: Heavy monsoon rains are taking place in many parts of the country these days, providing relief to the problem. Heavy rain in Delhi-NCR brought relief from the heat in the past day, while landslides occurred in the mountains and roads were jammed. In Bihar, 8 people have died in lightning strikes. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued heavy rain alerts in several states of the country including the country's capital Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the capital of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow is likely to be cloudy and raining today. In addition, IMD has issued a warning of heavy rain in Sitapur, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Hardoi, Unnao, and adjoining districts including Lucknow. With this, light rain is likely to occur at Khurja, Aligarh, Firozabad, Hathras, Agra, Bulandshahr, and Bijnor in UP.

In Bihar, rain wreaked havoc. 8 people have died in lightning strikes. The deceased include 5 persons from Banka, 2 from Jamui, and 1 from Bhagalpur. These districts continued to receive rain for half a day since morning. Jayanagar in north Bihar received the highest rainfall in the state on Tuesday. It recorded 100 mm of rain. According to scientists at IMD, light rain is likely to occur in different parts of the state in the next 48 hours.
