New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted lightning in many parts of northwest India for the next 2-3 days. According to IMD, cyclonic pressure continues in Punjab and its neighbouring states due to the activation of western disturbances. Light rain and cloudy conditions lashed the country's capital Delhi and surrounding areas on Thursday morning, leading to a drop in temperature. It is estimated that it may rain this evening.

IMD said that during the next two to three days, northwest India will be affected by winds from the Arabian Sea and east bound winds. All these activities are likely to cause dust storm, lightning, hailstorm accompanied by rain in western Himalayan regions. In northwest India, rain accompanied by thunderstorms may occur over the next two days.

According to IMD, heavy rain is likely to occur in some parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on May 13. By the morning of May 14, the southeast could become a low-pressure area in the Arabian Sea. By May 16, it will move towards the north-northwest. This may result in heavy rain in coastal areas of Lakshadweep, Kerala and Karnataka from May 14 to 16. Therefore, fishermen have also been issued an alert not to go to sea during this period.
