Luck does work for this three officer and for India as well. Three Indian officials were recalled just in time, foiling a bid by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) to honey trap them and extract sensitive information from them. The officials, who are currently in India and are being questioned, were brought back after they revealed the ISI plot. The names of the officials are being withheld. The plot was brought to notice by the Indian officials before any classified document was leaked out to Pakistan. The officials realized early on that they were likely to be trapped and immediately informed senior Indian authorities. They were asked to return to Delhi immediately.

The Indian officials worked with the language section and were responsible for the translation of official documents. There have been many attempts by Pakistan before to lure such officials to local hotels by women and then to extract information from them. A source define that the attempt, in this case, was to seduce them, film them in a compromising position and then possible blackmail for documents. The government will take a decision on this matter in the next few days

In 2010, a second secretary with the Indian high commission’s press division, Madhuri Gupta, was arrested after she passed on classified documents about India’s developmental work in Afghanistan to ISI as she fell in love with a young intelligence agency official. Notably, the two countries are at numskull on the release of Kulbhushan Jadhav, who is in Pakistan’s detention for alleged spying. However, the matter remains pending before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and India continues to seek consular access to Jadhav. Recently, Pakistan agreed for a meeting of Jadhav with his mother and wife.
