New Delhi: Indian Railways officials will now be able to enjoy air travel. The Railways have given a green signal to it. The South Western Railway has ordered its officials to fly to Delhi, Mumbai, and Calcutta to attend the meetings. If an officer travels through AC-First and AC-seconds to reach these cities, it would have been more expensive than the airfare.

This led to the authorities requesting air travel clearance to visit these cities. The General Manager of South-West Railway, located at Hubli in Karnataka, gave a green signal to the proposal saying it will give more time to the officials to work. The Deputy General Manager had written a letter to the General Manager on 31st July regarding sanctioning of the proposal for air travel.

"It takes more than 12 hours to go from any area of the South-West Railway to Delhi, Mumbai, and Calcutta. If the travel time and fares are mixed, it is more than the airfare. The letter also said that the Railway Board convenes a meeting on short notice. An officer has to travel for about three days for a two-hour meeting in Delhi. In this case, the approval of air travel is necessary.
