New Delhi: Railways have now included unmasking under crime. The order issued by the railway states that "Specific guidelines issued to prevent the spread of coronavirus include masking" The Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Indian Railways for the movement of trains on May 11, 2020, states that all passengers should be advised that they should have face covers or masks fitted during entry and travel.
The order issued on Saturday. This is the latest measure taken by the Railways. Railways have adopted this to ensure compliance with several Corona guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Affairs to restrict the spread of the virus.
This SOP states that mandatory use and fines of masks will now be listed under the Indian Railways (Penalties for activities affecting sanitation in railway premises) Rules, 2012, including fines for those who spit on the railway premises. There is a provision for imposition.
