Indian Railway gives 204 coaches to 4 states as Corona Beds, Delhi receives 54

New Delhi: Amidst the ever-increasing case of global epidemic coronavirus, Railways has given 204 railway coaches to ensure the availability of beds in 4 states. If the need arises, the railway will prepare 5000 coaches at its expense to increase the availability of beds. States have finally started taking advantage of this facility, months after the Railways developed hundreds of railway coaches as isolation wards to reduce the burden on hospitals.

While 204 coaches have already been sent for use by 4 states. Railways is ready to deliver around 5,000 coaches in a short time. After expressing concern over the fast-growing corona infection cases in Delhi, the Railways has already deployed 54 coaches in Delhi, looking into the future cases and shortage of beds. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh has deployed the maximum number of 70 railway coaches to further strengthen its preparations. While 60 are already operational in Telangana. There are 20 coaches in Andhra Pradesh.

PM Narendra Modi on Saturday held a meeting with several top officials including Home Minister and Health Minister to take stock of the availability of beds at the state and district levels in matters related to Corona. Home Minister Amit Shah held two meetings one after the other to handle the situation in Delhi, in which it was decided that the Railways would deploy 500 coaches to increase the availability of beds in Delhi.
