Indian railway starts coach production amid lockdown

New Delhi: Indian Railways has gradually resumed operations in Rail Coach Factories. In Kapurthala Rail Coach Factory, railways has started the work of manufacturing coaches. Railway has said that keeping in mind the order of lockdown in the states, other units will also start construction work on their own place as soon as they get approval from the state government.

It is noteworthy that after the lockdown was implemented in the country, the railways had stopped construction work in all its rail coach factories. According to the Ministry of Railways, at present, the construction work has been started from April 23 after a 28-day ongoing lockdown at the Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala. He told that during this period all the necessary precautions regarding corona infection are increasing.

He further said that due to the lockdown, passenger trains services are still closed, only the movement of goods trains is being done to transport the necessary goods across the country. This is the first time in the history of Indian Railways after independence when the wheels of passenger trains have been stopped like this and for so long. The work has been started by following all the instructions of the Home Ministry and the local administration.
