As part of its grand plan to roll out 283 festival special trains, Indian Railways is gearing up for an extraordinary celebration of Diwali and Chhath Puja.

"This marks a historic occasion where Indian Railways demonstrates its deep reverence for the Chhath festival by launching the special Vande Bharat train service connecting Patna and New Delhi," announced Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The service will encompass three to four trips dedicated to facilitating the devout pilgrims during Chhath Puja.

To address the surge in passenger traffic during the festive season, Indian Railways has unveiled a comprehensive scheme. These festival special trains, totaling 4,480 trips, will be instrumental in ensuring a seamless travel experience for the millions of passengers set to embark on their festive journeys.

The Eastern Central Railway is poised to operate 42 of these special trains, with a maximum of 512 trips. Meanwhile, the Western Railway will manage 36 festival special trains, contributing to a whopping 1,262 trips throughout the festive period.

The Ministry of Railways disclosed in a press release, "Special Trains have been strategically organized to connect key destinations across the country, including routes like Delhi-Patna, Delhi-Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Danapur-Saharsa, Danapur-Bengaluru, Ambala-Saharsa, Muzaffarpur-Yesvantpur, Puri-Patna, Okha-Naharlagun, Sealdah-New Jalpaiguri, Kochuveli-Bengaluru, Benaras-Mumbai, Howrah-Raxaul, and more. Notably, during 2022, Indian Railways operated 216 Puja Special trains, totaling 2,614 trips."

The North Western Railway is poised to contribute to this festive fervor by managing a total of 24 trains, which will undertake 1,208 trips, further bolstering the railway's capacity to meet the elevated travel demand during this joyful season.

In tandem with this extensive effort, Indian Railways has initiated a dedicated campaign to curb ticketless travel and enhance the travel experience for genuine passengers. The Railway Board has recommended that railway zones instruct their ticket-checking personnel to diligently verify passengers' valid and authorized proof of identity, ensuring the authenticity of every traveler. This measure aims to create a hassle-free and secure journey for all during the forthcoming festival period.
