The Indian recurve archery team has made it to the final of World Cup Stage 1 for the first time in nine years, where it will face China. Indian archers have also won three consecutive victories. Atanu Das, B Dheeraj, and Tarundeep Rai have also got a chance to win the gold medal for India after 13 years by winning the final.

India won its last gold in the World Cup in recurve archery in 2010 in Shanghai. The last time the recurve team reached the final was in 2014 in Medellin in Stage 2, but they got silver after losing the tiebreaker to Korea. The Army's Tarundeep was also a part of that team when it won gold in Shanghai. The Indian team, seeded fourth in the qualifying round, got into the first round as well. After which, it defeated the 13th-seeded Japanese team 5-4 in the shoot-off with a 29-28 win. The Indian archers have also hit the 10-mark twice (10, 10, 09) out of three attempts.

Earlier, both teams were tied at 4-4 (49-52, 57-22, 54-51, 52-57). After that, India defeated 12th-seeded Chinese Taipei and the ninth-seeded Netherlands team 6-2 evenly. India will play second-seeded China in the final, and the Netherlands will play Slovenia in the bronze medal match.

India did not have much trouble defeating Chinese Taipei and also took an early 4-0 lead. The match against the Netherlands was not an easy one, as they thrashed the top-seeded hosts, Turkey, 6–0. The Turkish team also included defending Olympic champion Mete Gajoz. The Dutch team took an early 2-0 lead, but the Indian archers made a spectacular comeback. Incidentally, this is the same venue where, in 2008, Jayant Talukdar, Rahul Banerjee, and Mangal Singh Champia helped India win the gold by defeating Malaysia 218-215.
