China has been reprimanded by India for renaming 15 locations in Arunachal Pradesh. China's'renaming' of sites in Arunachal Pradesh, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), "won't change realities." Arunachal Pradesh has "always been" and will "always be" an important part of India, according to the MEA.

"This isn't the first time China has tried to rename sites in Arunachal Pradesh. In April 2017, China attempted to assign similar names as well," MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said. "Arunachal Pradesh has always been and always will be a part of India." This truth is not changed by giving fictional names to localities in Arunachal Pradesh," he remarked.

At least 15 places in Arunachal Pradesh have been renamed by China. The "standardised" new names, as well as locations and a map, were revealed on Thursday. China's Ministry of Civil Affairs made the declaration only days before the country's new border regulation was about to take effect.

It's worth noting that Arunachal Pradesh is referred to as Zangnan or South Tibet on Chinese maps. Over the years, China has claimed Arunachal Pradesh as South Tibet, which the External Affairs Ministry has categorically denied, stating that the state is a "inseparable part of India."
