New Delhi: There was a time when Anwar Ali's name was considered one of the good defender of the Indian football team, but for the last seven years this name has remained a topic of discussion in the league only. Anwar Ali is looking for a way back into the Indian team by playing in the I-League or the Indian Super League (ISL).

Anwar, who made his India debut in 2008, has represented the country in 33 matches. Although he has been out of the team since 2012 and has now crossed his age of 35, Anwar still hopes that he will do well for India if he gets a chance. Anwar said that my hopes of playing for the country will never end. Even after I turn 40, I will maintain the hope that playing for the country is an honor for any player and I am always ready to give my 100% for the country.

Anwar will represent Punjab in the I-League this time. The Punjab team became champions in 2017–18 but had to settle for ninth place in the previous season. Recently, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has decided to make ISL their major league in place of I-League, which has also got consent from AFC. In such a situation, the future of I-League players has been questioned.

However, Anwar said, everything has its benefits and disadvantages. Ever since both the ISL and I-League tournaments are being held in India, more and more players are getting a chance to make their mark. As far as the I-League is concerned, this league has its own history. I don't think naming the first division and second division would make much difference.
