Bopanna and Balaji Prepare for Historic Paris 2024 Olympic Bid -Indian tennis enthusiasts have reason to celebrate! The All India Tennis Association (AITA) has selected veteran player Rohan Bopanna, ranked 67th globally, and rising talent N.Sriram Balaji to represent India at the Paris 2024 Olympics. This strategic pairing aims to blend Bopanna’s extensive experience with Balaji’s impressive agility to contend for an Olympic medal.

Experience and Agility: A Winning Combination

The choice to team up Bopanna with Balaji was a carefully considered decision by the selection committee, led by Davis Cup veteran Nandan Bal. Although Yuki Bhambri was a strong contender, Balaji’s exceptional court movement ultimately secured his place. The goal is to combine Bopanna’s tactical prowess with Balaji’s quick reflexes to form a formidable partnership.

The duo will not embark on this journey alone. Coach Balachandran Manikkatha and physical therapist Rebecca V. Orschegen will provide essential support during their training and preparation, ensuring Bopanna and Balaji are at their peak performance for the Olympics.

Competing at Roland Garros: An Iconic Venue

The tennis matches for the Paris 2024 Olympics will take place at the legendary Roland Garros, home of the prestigious French Open. From July 27 to August 4, this iconic venue will host the world's top athletes competing for Olympic glory, adding an extra layer of excitement and challenge for the Indian pair.

Bopanna’s Final Olympic Quest

At 44, Bopanna is eyeing his last shot at Olympic success. Earlier this year, he made history by becoming the oldest Grand Slam champion in the Australian Open men’s doubles. Having competed in the 2012 London and 2016 Rio Olympics, Bopanna aims to surpass his previous achievements, which include a mixed doubles semi-final finish with Sania Mirza in Rio.

India’s Medal Aspirations: Setting New Standards

India pins high hopes on Bopanna and Balaji. This duo aspires to make a significant mark in Indian tennis history, aiming to surpass Leander Paes’s bronze medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. The combination of Bopanna’s strategic intelligence and Balaji’s agility presents a formidable challenge to their opponents.

Focused on Olympic Glory

With the Olympics approaching, Bopanna and Balaji are intensely focused on their training. They are meticulously planning their match strategies, driven by the honor of representing India on the global stage. Their unwavering dedication aims to deliver an outstanding performance and bring home a medal for their country.
