New York- NY: Officials say an Indian-American police officer was critically wounded after being shot by a man while responding to a domestic dispute. Paramhans Desai, 38, was shot as he attempted to make an arrest at a house in McDonough, Georgia, on the evening of November 4th, according to local county Sheriff Reginald Scandrett.
According to Scandrett, the attacker drew a handgun and shot Desai before fleeing in a car. The attack on Desai comes as a backlash against the anti-police movement grows, as evidenced by the Democratic Party's electoral losses last week. In a country where violent crimes are on the rise.
Shaquille O'Neal, the legendary basketball player who lives in the town, has offered a USD5,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the man who shot the officer. Additionally, law enforcement agencies are offering a total of USD25,000 in rewards. Jordan Jackson has been identified as the alleged attacker by police.
"I assure you, Jackson, we will come to find you, we will place you in custody, and we will bring you justice immediately," Scandrett said at a press conference. Desai was identified as the officer who was shot only on Saturday, and police said he was in critical condition.
