Good news! GST collections at all-time high of over Rs 1.15 lakh crore in December

New Delhi: The year 2020 has given a very good figure for the economy on the go. In December, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection has reached its all-time high of Rs 1.15 lakh crore. The government has given this good news to the country on the first day of the new year. This is an indication that the economy is rapidly returning to track after the lockdown opens.

According to data released on Friday by the Finance Ministry, the country's GST revenue collection stood at Rs 1,15,174 crore in December. This is the highest monthly collection of the entire history of GST to date. For the first time, the GST figure has crossed 1.15 lakh crore. Earlier, the highest GST collection was Rs 1,13,866 crore in April 2019. In this, the Central Government's GST i.e. CGST collection was Rs. 21,365 crores, and the GST of States i.e. SGST was Rs. 27,804 crores. Similarly, the total integrated GST (IGST) stood at Rs 57,426 crore, of which the cess is Rs 8,579 crore. A total of 87 lakh GSTR-3B returns have been filed for the month of November.

The Finance Ministry said that the government has paid Rs 23,276 crore from IGST to CGST and Rs 17,681 to SGST under the regular settlement. In this way, the total GST collections of the Center and states in December were Rs 44,641 crore and Rs 45,485 crore respectively.
