MADRID: In a friendly matchup at the Alcala de Henares, the India U-17 men's team defeated the Atletico de Madrileno U-16s 2-1.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-17 Asian Cup 2023, which will take place in Thailand in June of this year, is presently being prepared for by the India U-17 team, who are currently in Madrid, Spain, where they are participating in a number of practise games.

Tallon scored for the home team before India's Thanglalsoun Gangte and Lalpekhlua scored early in the second half, giving the visitors a slender victory in the Thursday night game.

India put in a valiant effort in the opening exchanges to keep the scores level, but the hosts took the initiative to start the game. However, India was prepared to switch up their strategy and had an opportunity as early as the third minute when they capitalised on a Faizan Waheed clearance and Gogocha advanced up the pitch to pass a cross to Gangte, who missed the target.

As he cleared an Atletico corner in the 23rd minute, Gangte was once more in the thick of things, this time at the other end of the pitch. With just over five minutes of regulation time remaining in the first half, Omang had the chance to move his squad ahead as the two teams continued to scuffle at each other. Dani, the custodian for Atletico, deflected his shot.

Late in the opening period, India custodian Julfikar Gazi was also had to play, and he managed to maintain the score at 0-0 before the break.

Strangely, the adjustments allowed the Blue Colts to win the game, and India gained the lead after Korou transferred the ball to Gangte, who expertly capitalised on his opportunity. Four minutes after taking the lead, the Korou-Gangte team performed their magic once more.
