InterGlobe Aviation, IndiGo's parent business, appointed co-founder and promoter Rahul Bhatia as Managing Director with immediate effect on Friday. "At its meeting today, the Board of Directors of InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo) unanimously accepted the appointment of Rahul Bhatia, its co-founder and Promoter, as its Managing Director with immediate effect, subject to the agreement of the Company's Members," IndiGo said in a statement.
Meleveetil Damodaran, IndiGo's Chairman, stated "This will help the airline grow in the coming years. Mr. Bhatia, he noted, would be in charge of all elements of the airline and would actively lead the management team." InterGlobe Enterprises, with its core business of Air Transport Management, was founded by Bhatia in 1989.
"Under his efficient captainship, the InterGlobe Group has diversified its portfolio, which now comprises Civil Aviation (IndiGo), Hospitality, Airline Management, Travel Commerce, Advanced Pilot Training, and Aircraft Maintenance Engineering," according to the corporation.
