NEW DELHI: Manish Sharma was named new chief operating officer and Yusuf Tayob was designated Group Chief Executive for Operations at global professional services firm Accenture on Friday, effective March 1.

Accenture announced in a statement that current COO Jo Deblaere will retire after a 38-year career with the firm. "Sharma brings tremendous expertise and vast knowledge of what our clients require and how to digitally transform," said Julie Sweet, Accenture's chair and CEO.

Sharma's client centricity will continue to enhance our shared success with our clients in his new job, she continued, as we assist them transform every aspect of their operations.

Sharma was most recently the group chief executive-operations, where he was in charge of a wide range of intelligent operations. He also oversaw the creation of Accenture's SynOps platform, which orchestrates the best possible mix of human and machine talent, guided by AI, data, and insights, to deliver targeted business objectives.

Sharma also developed the Accenture Rural initiative, which connects Accenture with small business process service providers in India's rural areas.
