New Delhi: There is a good news for the people of Madhya Pradesh’s Indore as  Devi Ahilya Bal Holkar airport on Wednesday was declared as an international airport.

According to report of news agency ANI, Indore's Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar airport declared as an international airport. With this decision, the number of International airports in Indian raised to 21, including Indore's Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar airport.

The official statement reads, "In pursuance of sub-rule (b) of rule 3 of the Passport (Entry into India) Rules, 1950, the Central Government hereby designates Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport, Indore of Madhya Pradesh State as an authorized Immigration Check Post for entry into/exit from India with valid documents for all classes of passengers.”

An international airport is an airport with customs and border control facilities enabling passengers to travel between countries. It is to be known that apart from prime metros like New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, India has 14 international airports including Varanasi, Goa, Calicut and others.

Indore’s airport is named after Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar of Indore, is considered the busiest airport in the region. The Indore airport facilitates round the clock operations and was given its World Standardization Certificate by the UK.
