On Friday, industry and IT Minister K T Rama Rao, who unveiled the Electric Vehicles Policy here, stressed the need to focus on decarbonization, digitization and decentralization as Indian cities are the centre of economic activity.

He said Hyderabad would contribute 50 per cent to GSDP, he said, "We must ensure that the economic power of our cities remains intact to become a $5 trillion economy. Telangana is one of the most urbanized states in India, with 43-44 per cent of urban areas living in the country, he stressed on sustainable urbanization, sustainable consciousness and energy.

"In 5-7 years, most people live in urban areas in Telangana. While not fully urbanised, we can expect sub-urbanization constructively and planned, create more counter magnets, integrated townships and make people go farther and create more economic groups".
