INS Viraat, the world’s oldest aircraft carrier after serving service for nearly decades will be decommissioned today. The ceremony of decommissioning will be attended by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and as well as other dignitaries.
INS Viraat was commissioned in Indian Navy in 1987 before serving service of 27 years in the Royal British Navy. During the second World War, it was built in 1943.
The future of it is not yet decided and it can happen that it will be converted into a museum or a hotel.
