Instagram is testing a new feature called 'Trial Reels' that allows creators to test their reels without having them appear on their profiles. According to TechCrunch, this feature is being tested globally but is not yet available in the stable version of the app.

The 'Trial Reels' feature aims to let users experiment with their content without the pressure of public performance. Initially part of Instagram's 'Experiment Mode,' this feature was first discovered by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi in April.

How Does 'Trial Reels' Work?
The 'Trial Reels' feature enables users to share their reels with non-followers and gather metrics like likes and comments. After reviewing the feedback, creators can choose to share the reel with their followers or archive it. These trial reels won't be visible on the user's profile and won't be shown to followers by default, though they can still reach followers if shared. Reels will be archived 24 hours after the creator decides whether to publish or archive them.

Meta, Instagram's parent company, has not confirmed whether this feature will be officially released. In a statement to TechCrunch, Meta said, "We’re always exploring different ways for creators to express themselves on Instagram, but nothing to share at the moment."

Enhancements to Instagram Notes
In related news, Meta recently announced updates to the 'Notes' feature on Instagram, which now includes support for likes, mentions, and prompts. The Notes feature has become popular since its launch 18 months ago, and these new updates aim to make it more interactive and a significant part of the app's user experience.
