Many heroes, many great men and many philosophers were born on Indian soil. One such prominent figure was Rabindranath Tagore. He was a writer and a poet. His gave national anthem to two countries. 'Jan Gan Man' for India and 'Amar Shonar Bangla' for our neighbouring nation Bangladesh. Rabindranath Tagore was born on 7 May 1861 at Jorasanko Haveli in Kolkata. Apart from being a poet and writer, he was also an excellent musician and painter.

- Rabindranath Tagore composed more than 2200 songs and his song collection is known as 'Rabindra Sangeet'.

-Tagore's world-famous work Geetanjali was published in 1910. It has a total collection of 157 poems.

-Rabindranath Tagore founded Vishwabharati University in West Bengal on 23 December 1921.

-The name of 'The King of the Dark Chamber' is also included in the popular book by Rabindranath Tagore. It was auctioned in 2018 in the US for seven hundred dollars (about 45 thousand rupees). This is an English translation of Rabindranath Tagore's Hindi play 'Raja' and this book was published by the McMinnell Company.

-The ideology of Tagore is also very much needed in today's time. He used to say that standing near the shore or seeing it will not help you cross the sea. You have to cross the sea.

-Rabindranath Tagore is also known as 'Gurudev' with love.

-One of the biggest achievements of Rabindranath Tagore is that he was the first Indian to receive the Nobel Prize. In 1913, he was conferred with the Nobel Prize for 'Geetanjali'.

- Born in 1861, Rabindranath Tagore breathed his last on 7 August 1941 in Jorasanko Thakurbari, Kolkata.
