BASTI: An 18-year-old youth and a girl were allegedly killed in a case of apparent honour killing in a village in the Basti district after being found in an objectionable position. The incident occurred under the Rudhauli police circle.
They were both in relationships and practised various religions. The girl's family is said to have murdered the pair and buried the girl's body, while the young man's body was dumped in a nearby sugarcane field.
"The process of exhuming the girl's body from the grave has commenced, and the police are ready to conduct a post-mortem on both remains," said Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Deependra Chaudhary. Numerous police officers have been deployed in the area, and an investigation is being conducted. The offenders would shortly be apprehended. When a farmer discovered the teenager's death in his sugarcane field and called the authorities, the incident came to light.
Rudhauli police station in-charge Inspector Ram Krishna Mishra subsequently reached the incident site and started an investigation.
The teen's body had multiple damage marks, according to early investigation. He had a green shirt on with all the buttons open when his body was discovered, and his pants had fallen to his feet.
The teen's father told the police that his son had operated a tractor for a villager. His family stated that he left the house at night, did not come home, and had turned off his phone.
When the police arrived at that man's home, they found that his sister had also passed away the previous evening and had been buried. "Further inquiry showed that the girl had passed away and been buried during the night under unexplained circumstances. "The teenager's family claimed an honour killing had occurred.
