The objective of an international translation day, approved by FIT, was started in the year 1991 to show the solidarity of the translation community all over the world. The International Federation of Translators (FIT) was established in 1953. In 1991, FIT started celebrating International Translation Day to promote the identity of the translation community all over the world. Subsequently, on 24 May 2017, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) passed a resolution declaring September 30 as International Translation Day. Since then, this special day is celebrated all over the world to increase the importance of language.
