International Translation Day today, know the importance and history of this day

International Translation Day 2022 is being celebrated all over the world today. Every year on September 30, this day is celebrated to honour language professionals for their work and to remember the global importance of translation.

The theme of this year's International Translation Day is 'A World Without Barriers.' The International Federation of Translators (FIT) has also announced its annual poster competition celebrating International Translation Day 2022. According to FIT, the competition is for any professional designer. International Translation Day 2022 is celebrated every year on September 30, the death anniversary of St. Jerome. St. Jerome is a Bible translator, known as the patron saint of translators. This day is celebrated in his memory.  

The objective of an international translation day, approved by FIT, was started in the year 1991 to show the solidarity of the translation community all over the world. The International Federation of Translators (FIT) was established in 1953. In 1991, FIT started celebrating International Translation Day to promote the identity of the translation community all over the world. Subsequently, on 24 May 2017, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) passed a resolution declaring September 30 as International Translation Day. Since then, this special day is celebrated all over the world to increase the importance of language.
