Not only India, rural women have more than 50% contribution in the field of agriculture all over the world. According to the 2011 census, more than 6 crore women in the country have been related to farming. According to research, women in Bihar, Nagaland, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan have the highest participation in farming. Whereas in Kerala, Punjab and West Bengal women are less interested.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, the contribution of rural women to the total labor of the agricultural sector is 43%, while in some developed countries this number is also 70 to 80%. In the Himalayan region, a rural woman works an average of 3485 hours per hectare every year, while men work an average of 1212 hours. Along with agriculture, women are also contributing in fisheries and animal husbandry.
