New Delhi: Due to the farmers' agitation, on the request of the Delhi Police, the government has extended the temporary ban on internet service at the Singhu and Tikri (Delhi-Haryana) border, and Ghazipur (Delhi-Uttar Pradesh) border for two days. . The government order states that in view of maintaining the rights and public safety conferred under sub rule-1 of Rule No.-2 of the Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency or Public Safety Rules 2017) and avert any emergency. It is necessary to order to temporarily stop Internet service from 11 am to 2 pm on 31 January in Singhu, Ghazipur, Tikri, and other border areas adjoining the capital.
On Monday, the police officers have put barbed wire on the Delhi border near Ghazipur so that the protesting farmers cannot enter Delhi from Uttar Pradesh. Police have deployed a large number of police forces at the movement site on the Ghazipur border. It is noteworthy that on Saturday, the government had decided to stop internet service for two days between January 29 and January 31.
In view of the violent tractor parade of farmers in Delhi on the occasion of Republic Day and farmers clash with locals on Friday, the government has decided to temporarily shut down the internet service. During the skirmish, heavy stones were also fired from both sides. Delhi Police has registered several FIRs in connection with the violent incident on 26 January.
