Lucknow: Poetic ceremony at Allahabad Central University was canceled at no time. In fact, the poet who participated in the protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) at Shaheen Bagh in ceremony was invited. However, after the matter erupted on social media, the university administration decided to cancel the program.

Mushaira was scheduled to be held on the evening of Friday, August 13 at Allahabad Central University as part of the Amrit Mahotsav of the independence anniversary. But it was canceled at the last minute. Shabina Adeeb and Hashim Firozabadi were invited to this mushaira. Shabina Adeeb and Hashim Firozabadi attended a demonstration at Shaheen Bagh last year. Not only that, but the two poets had also made objectionable remarks against PM Narendra Modi and others in the government there. There was strong opposition on social media to call the two poets.

Chief Guest Prayagraj Police Commissioner Sanjay Goel had also refused to attend the event due to the involvement of these shires. Central University Vice-Chancellor Professor Sangeeta Srivastava also refused to preside. In such a situation, the program was suddenly canceled among a crowd of hundreds before the formal beginning.
