The cricketing festival is back as Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians (MI) and Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clash in season opener at MA Chidambaram Stadium. It will be a blockbuster of a clash as both the teams boast a heavy batting line-up.
Mi will be without their start overseas opener Quinton de Kock as he is still in quarantine. In all likelihood, they will pick Chris Lynn as his replacement. Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult will once again spearhead Mumbai’s pace battery, while Piyush Chawla is likely to make his debut for the five-time champions.
Conversely, RCB will also miss their young prospect and opener Devdutt Padikkal, who recently recovered from Covid-19. Kohli will have to choose between Finn Allen and Mohammed Azharuddeen as his opening partner for the match.
Virat Kohli says Good chance for us to get onto the park and create some intensity. With the balance we have this year we can do both, but have to understand who you're playing against.
