Dubai: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli has been fined for slow over-rate during the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). Virat Kohli has been fined Rs 12 lakh. The league said in a statement that, "A penalty has been imposed on Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli, as his team had maintained a slow over-rate during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 against KXIP in Dubai on September 24, 2020. "
It says that under the IPL code of conduct, it was the first offence of the season committed by his team, relating to minimum slow over-rate offences, a fine of Rs 12 lakh was levied on Kohli. RCB suffered a huge defeat of 97 runs at the hands of KXIP in Thursday's match. KXIP captain KL Rahul played an unbeaten inning of 132 runs on 69 balls and RCB got a huge target of 207 runs. With this innings, Rahul has become the biggest innings Indian player in IPL.
Chasing a target of 207 runs by Punjab, RCB's team got out on 109 runs. Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin made their names for three wickets in the match. With this win, Punjab opened its account this season. KXIP captain KL Rahul was termed man of the match to play an explosive inning.
