New Delhi: Indian Railways' catering and tourism arm Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) also handles e-ticketing for the national transporter. Every day thousands of people use the IRCTC website and app to book or cancel their train tickets. The platform also offers Tatkal ticket booking service.

According to IRCTC website, booking and cancellation services will not be available from March 6, 12:00 am to March 7, 6:00 am. The service will be unavailable due to maintenance activity. The website stated, "Booking and Cancellation will not be available from 00:00 hrs on 06/03/2019 to 06:00 hrs on 07/03/2019 due to maintenance activity. Inconvenience caused is deeply regretted."

However, it may be noted that in an effort to promote digital transactions, IRCTC launched payment aggregator IRCTC iPay recently. With this new service, users do not have to use third-party platforms to book their train tickets or plane tickets through IRCTC in the future. This exclusive digital payment gateway will help users get seamless digital experience and smooth digital payment while availing any travel-related services through the IRCTC website. IRCTC iPay can be used to pay for train tickets as well as flight tickets booked through the IRCTC platform.

Worth mentioning here is that Railways also launched the Rail Drishti dashboard recently which promotes transparency as well as accountability. Users will be able to access railway information from various sources on a single platform with this portal. Rail Drishti dashboard will help make available every kind of information anytime, anywhere to anybody. The portal is simple, user-friendly and easy to navigate. Passengers can use it for PNR enquiry, complaint status, railway earnings and so much more.
