Kabul: The Taliban, the terror group that captured Afghanistan, is losing control of the country. The Islamic State, a terror group, has taken hold in every province of the country. The United Nations (UN) Ambassador to Afghanistan said the Islamic State is growing rapidly and has now made its presence felt in all 34 primes. UN Special Ambassador Deborah Leon told the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) that the Taliban is arresting or killing suspected ISKP militants to prevent the expansion of the Islamic State-Khorasan (ISKP).
Leon further explained that 'This is an area that needs the highest attention from the global community.' He said this at a time when the Islamic State, a staunch enemy of the Taliban, has launched two major attacks on Shia Muslims in Kabul. At least one person has lost his life while six others have been injured. the ambassador of the UN said that the Taliban is "failing to contain the growing influence of the ISKP. Earlier ISKP was confined to some provinces or capital, but now it exists in all provinces and is growing rapidly.''
Deborah Leon said ISKP attacks have also intensified since the Taliban arrived. This number has increased from 60 in 2020 to 334 this year. The United States had completely withdrawn from Afghanistan after 20 years of war. After which the Taliban captured the country. It is making real efforts to present itself as a government, but still, the Taliban continue to reduce the rights of other sections of society and women and girls.
