JERUSALEM: The latest death in months of violence between Israelis and Palestinians occurred during an Israeli military raid in the occupied West Bank on Thursday, according to the Palestinian health ministry.
The military claimed that soldiers working in the Qalandiya refugee camp were being hit with rocks and cement blocks from rooftops above and retaliated.
The army has been conducting night raids in the area since the beginning of last year. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 41-year-old Samir Aslan was the victim.

Israel's occupation of the territory Palestinians want for their future state lasted 55 years and is still going strong in their eyes.
The raid escalated tensions and triggered a new round of Palestinian attacks, which resulted in 10 Israeli deaths. 2022 was the deadliest year since 2004 when about 150 Palestinians were killed by Israeli fire in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
The violence comes as Israel's newest, most right-wing government, which is both ultranationalist and ultra-Orthodox, is carrying out its legislative agenda. This government is expected to take a tough stand against the Palestinians and build settlements in the West Bank.
The West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem were all taken by Israel during the 1967 Middle East War; These are the areas the Palestinians want for their future independent state.
