Israeli military forces have concluded operations in the northern Gaza Strip's "Towers Neighbourhood," targeting and demolishing a chemical weapons lab, tunnel shafts, and defensive firing positions, as confirmed by the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Friday.

The area, characterized by towering buildings, was allegedly utilized for militant purposes, serving as strongholds for anti-tank and anti-aircraft firing positions, alongside observation posts. Soldiers also uncovered rocket launchers primed for action, booby-trapped structures, and underground passageways.

Numerous weapons, including sniper rifles, RPG launchers, rifles, and handguns, were seized by Israeli forces during the operation. The IDF disclosed the discovery of a complex featuring a chemical weapons laboratory and an associated storage facility.

Combat engineers, aided by airstrikes, dismantled the complex and its network of tunnels. This action follows the recent onslaught by Hamas on Israeli communities near the Gaza border on Oct. 7, which resulted in the loss of at least 1,200 lives.

Amidst ongoing efforts by Israeli authorities to identify casualties and locate missing individuals, it is reported that 129 people, including men, women, children, soldiers, and foreigners, are held captive in Gaza by Hamas, with others still unaccounted for.
