Israeli PM Bennett quarantines after daughter tests Covid positive

JERUSALEM: According to a statement from the prime minister's office, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett was placed in quarantine on Sunday, December 26 after his daughter tested positive with COVID-19. Bennett's wife and other children were also found to be negative, according to the statement.

Bennett skipped a special cabinet meeting in the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights to enter quarantine after his 14-year-old daughter tested positive, according to Israeli media.

On Sunday, Education Minister Yifat Shasha-Biton was also sent in quarantine after her daughter tested positive for the virus. Bennett was placed in quarantine on December 14 after a passenger on his return flight from a historic trip to the United Arab Emirates tested positive for COVID-19.

Following the spread of the Omicron form, Israel has observed an increase in COVID-19 cases.
