JERUSALEM: Yair Lapid, the prime minister of Israel, and Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates, spoke on the phone about extending normalisation agreements throughout the Middle East.
Since Lapid took office last Friday, the two leaders have not spoken on the phone, according to the Xinhua news agency.
The Abraham Accords, which were signed in September 2020 and were mediated by the US, restored relations between the two nations. The two stressed the value of strengthening these "warm relationships" between their nations, according to a statement from Lapid's office.
They addressed "extending the circle of peace to encompass additional countries in the region" and "expressed delight" with the strengthening tourist and business connections, according to the statement.
Lapid sent President Mohammed his best wishes for the upcoming Eid Al-Adha festival, which will start on Saturday, while President Mohammed "stressed the significance of preserving strong connections" between the two countries.
