Italy: As officials strive to contain a fourth wave of illnesses, new measures to combat the transmission of Covid-19 on public transportation and in taxis went into effect in Italy on Tuesday. According to sources, all passengers must display their "green pass" before boarding long-distance and inter-regional trains under the new instructions, which were signed off on Monday by the health and transport ministers in a decree.

The inexperienced go is a certificate demonstrating that a person is fully immunised or has had at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, has recovered from illness, or has tested negative in the previous 48 hours. The new restrictions apply to all of the country's major train stations, including Rome, Milan, and Florence, as well as those stations where checks are possible based on local conditions.

According to the government decree, if a passenger on board a train exhibits coronavirus symptoms, railway staff and police may decide to stop the train so that emergency measures can be carried out. This regulation applies to all trains, including local trains, on which passengers are not required to carry a novice go at the moment.Except when passengers are members of the same household, taxis and car rental services with drivers (NCC) are limited to a maximum of two passengers.

In comparison to other European countries, the fourth wave has had a limited impact on the overall pandemic situation in Italy so far, although statistics show that infections have been on the rise for the past four weeks.
