Jabalpur Blast Case: Police Announce Reward for Arrest of Scrapyard Owner Shamim Rza

Jabalpur: In a significant development in the Jabalpur blast case, police announced a reward of Rs 15,000 for any information leading to the arrest of the owner of a scrapyard where the blast occurred, an official said on Tuesday.

The blast took place in the scrapyard located near Khajri Khiriya bypass under the jurisdiction of Adhartal police station in Jabalpur district at around 12 pm on April 25. Two people lost their lives in the blast.

Following the incident, the district administration demolished the illegal constructions of the scrapyard located in Anand Nagar in the city on April 26. Earlier, an FIR was filed against the owner of the scrapyard, Shamim Rza, who has been absconding since the incident.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sonali Dubey stated, "Two individuals have been apprehended in connection with the case so far. The main accused, Haji Shamim Rza, has been on the run since the incident occurred. A reward of Rs 15,000 has been announced for his apprehension."

"This was not a typical LPG cylinder blast. It was an explosive blast. We will share more details once the probe report is available. A team from the National Security Guard (NSG) is currently investigating the matter with the assistance of local police," Dubey added.

Further investigation into the matter is ongoing, the officer further stated.
