Bollywood's famous actor Jagdeep was born on this day, born on 29 March 1939 in Amritsar, Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jaffrey alias Jagdeep Jafri has struggled a lot in real life. Jagdeep's father Syed Yawar Hussain was a barrister. The country was divided in 1947 and his father passed away in the same year. Mother Kannis went to Mumbai and the rest of the children. After coming to Mumbai, Jagdeep's mother started working all day in an orphanage to feed the family. Seeing his mother doing so much work, Jagdeep started selling soap-comb on the streets.

Jagdeep used to cry a lot after seeing this situation of his mother. In an interview, Jagdeep recalled his childhood struggles, saying, "I had to do something to survive, but I didn't want to earn money by doing something wrong, so I started selling stuff on the street". The popular filmmaker, BR Chopra was directing a film called Afsana, and for a scene in the film, he needed some child actors.

That is why the extra supplier brought the children, including Jagdeep. He acted in this movie only because he was able to earn only one and a half rupees a day by selling the comb, whereas on the set of Afsana he was getting only 3 rupees for clapping. In this way, Jagdeep became 'Master Munna' from Syed Ishtiaq and started his cine career. Jagdeep made his name with Bimal Roy's film 'Do Bigha Zameen'.
