BALI:  External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on Thursday on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting at Bali. they have discussed "specific outstanding issues in our bilateral relationship pertaining to the border situation".

After the meeting,  EAM Jaishankar posted on Twitter: "I began my day in Bali by meeting Chinese FM Wang Yi. The conversation lasted an hour." focused on the border situation-related specific unresolved issues in our bilateral relationship.  topics such as airlines and students were also discussed.

"Common viewpoints on the state of the world and how it affects G20 discussions." The participants will discuss topics of current importance, such as fostering multilateralism and current global challenges including food and energy security, during the two-day FMM on Thursday and Friday.

Jaishakar is scheduled to have multiple bilateral talks with his counterparts from other G20 member states and invited countries, the Ministry of External Affairs said. His participation in FMM, "would strengthen India's interaction with G20 member states."

India's participation in the next FMM negotiations assumes even greater significance as a G20 troika member and as the G20's incoming president, it added.
